Just do not go past the Stöttl Alm

Our golf course of the month is a fairly young golf course: embedded in the majestic alpine regionof the Tyrol at an altitude of 900 meteres is the golf course Mieminger Plateau 30 km from Innsbruckand in close proximity to the Inntal motor way. The course is just 25 kilometers off Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The beautiful landscape and the panoramic view extend to the east across Inntal and to thewest all the way to the Ötztal and Lechtal Alps. The exceptionally mild and sunny climate allows golfingfrom mid-March to end-November. The Champion course is open from August 2008 (HCP limitation formen and women is -36). The championship course with a total of 6.550 meters was designed with a lotof place for empathy by the golf-architect Keith Preston in the 70 ha Föhrenwald. Close to perfection forgolfers: with the Alpine resort Schwarz a five-star hotel is directly at the course. The Mieminger golf coursewas chosen as the best Newcomer in 2008 by the Golf Revue. Apart from the top-facility, the optimal organizationalframework and a well-rounded offer together with the alpine resort Schwarz were crucial. Oneof a kind: directly behind the track nine is a refreshment station, an old alpine hut, which invites for a shortbreak with a beautiful view across the Inntal before taking on the back-nine.

Hole 1:

Hole 1:

It all starts off with a long PAR4 with a dogleg in the middle of the Alpine Tyrol. The first stroke should be a mighty drive in direction of the fairway bunker. With the second stroke uphill an iron length more should be chosen in order for the green bunker to be reached and the green approached.

Hole 2:

Hole 2:

This long PAR5 is something for long hitters. The drive should be placed to the left half of the fairway; this makes the second stroke much easier. The track should be doable with a good pitch or put using a wood or a long iron from there. The

Hole 3:

Hole 3:

The PAR3 goes slightly uphill and is 35 m long. The players must pay attention to the right club-choice and try to hit the right green-position. The ones who come to the left or the right of the bunker can fight for the PAR.

Hole 4:

Hole 4:

This track – a PAR4 - looks relatively straight and easy – yet, the players should be concentrated and look for a straight drive. Attention: who goes into the bunker to the left of the green probably has to write down a bogey.

Hole 5:

Hole 5:

A medium long Par3 with bunkers to the left and right. A straight drive here is the key for success, otherwise it becomes tricky. The high trees that surround the track do not make the game easier.

Hole 6:

Hole 6:

This long and straight PAR5 should be played with brains since the fairway goes slightly to the left from the drive onwards. The longer the drive goes to the left fairway side the angle to the green will be better. The second stroke is crucial for the chance for PAR – a good lay-up should be at least 180 meters long. The stroke should go long and to the right rather than to the left because two bunkers are lurking there.

Hole 7:

Hole 7:

A good mid-fairway drive makes life easier with this PAR4. A shortcut above the distinctive tree on the right fairway side is not recommended. The green is narrow and long. The position of the flag should be closely observed in order to avoid a three-putt.

Hole 8:

Hole 8:

Long hitters can take on the green of this PAR4 with a dogleg with a stroke above the trees but can also get lost in the woods easily. The clearly less stressful option is a wood 3 or a long iron. What remains then is a short pitch and the chance for a birdie is great.

Hole 9:

Hole 9:

Now it goes uphill – the refreshment station Stöttlalm is in sight. When it comes to the second stroke on this PAR4 with a dogleg to the right, choosing the club carefully is advised because the green is 40 meters long. Attention: a water obstacle is on the left side and a scarp on the right. Advice: a stop at the Stöttlalm should definitely be planned in; after a short rest the starter at hole 10 will bring you back in the mood again.

Hole 10:

Hole 10:

Freshly energized you come to a long relatively straight PAR5 with great hillpanorama. The fairway is wide, which means driver and full throttle! The second stroke should start slightly to the left – a perfect pitch and a birdie is within reach.

Hole 11:

Hole 11:

The big tree standing slightly to the left from the right fairway bunker is the target of the first stroke on this PAR4 which bends to the right. A precise wedge shot is then required. The two bunkers should be avoided at all costs! After a successful PAR one can fully enjoy the impressive view.

Hole 12:

Hole 12:

The PAR3 is dream hole going uphill. The round bunker with a tree in the middle is visually appealing but should be avoided in the game!

Hole 13:

Hole 13:

Another tee with a mesmerizing view of the alpine region that can easily distract the golfers. Although really beautiful the track is not easy at all. This PAR4 is long and narrow. Once again a precise drive is needed and a good approach makes things easier. Although there are no fairway bunkers, there is a dangerous green bunker to the right.

Hole 14:

Hole 14:

An almost 400 meters long PAR4 with a dogleg on the left. A long and well placed drive is required once again. The aim is the left fairway side because of a better angle for the green and of course a chance for a PAR.

Hole 15:

Hole 15:

Not a simple track at all since the green is, as is the case with the track before, too far away. This PAR4 has an easy dogleg with a green bunker to the right. There is no shame in making a bogey here.

Hole 16:

Hole 16:

There are 537 meters from the white tee to the flag on this PAR5 featuring a dogleg to the right. Gaining meters is required again but so is playing with the head because the green bunker is well placed and does not really make the second stroke easier.

Hole 17:

Hole 17:

A wonderful drive downhill which should be directed to the middle of the fairway is the key to success with this PAR4 with a dogleg on the left. The second stroke goes a bit uphill and the bunker on the left is to be avoided with a careful club choice.

Hole 18:

Hole 18:

The conclusion is made with wonderful PAR3 and a fantastic view. With a good drive to the middle of the green the chances of making a birdie are great.
